This is a sequel thesis to the author´s doctoral dissertation: The Literary and the Theological Functions Associated with Moses/Joshua and Elijah/Elisha. This new work demonstrates that the purpose of God´s miraculous interventions in Scripture was to elucidate and validate the spoken word of the prophets and apostles and even of Jesus Himself, and makes a convincing case for the linkage of these miraculous New Testament occurrences to those of the Old Testament (E. H. Merrill). Where Moses was the beginning, Jesus was the telos, the fulfillment. Elijah and Elisha are the links between the two. An important concomitant to this study is that the miracles associated with Jesus on the one hand and Moses on the other, are so interwined with their message, that they stand and fall together. The Miracles are not an embarrassment, but rather the demonstration that God is at work through His messengers (H. J. Austel).
