The production of stereoscopic CG films poses some interesting challenges, especially for student productions that work under the severe limitations of time and resources. This book presents a case study of the production process of one such student produced stereoscopic short film. The production process is described in detail starting from the initial conception of the narrative plot to the actual production of the film. Finally an experimental technique of using eye tracking as a tool for finding out the effectiveness of the various stereoscopic framing techniques used in the film is presented. The feasibility of eye tracking as an effective tool for filmmakers in stereoscopic 3D to analyze the viewing behavior of the audience and to improve the film using that information is assessed. Finally, the eye tracking experiment is described in detail and the analysis of the result is presented. This book has valuable insights for filmmakers looking for innovative ways to experiment with stereoscopic filmmaking techniques, and in turn asses its effect on their film audience.
