Dr Kyohairwe Baketuraki Stella´s study, closely examines women political representation in the Ugandan Local Politics. She examines the recruitment processes and the significance of women in politics with regard to numbers and what they represent.Like a host of other feminists, she believes that following the global trend, women in Uganda have gone a long way in political empowerment particularly at the local government level where the current quota provision of at least one-third women in the local councils has increased their numerical significance. Her study offers an overview of practical methods of operationalizing Affirmative Action in Ugandan local politics. It explores the institutional approaches for women political inclusion but also assesses the dispensability of individual factors including women s own political ambitions. She notes that the women´s political recruitment and representation processes, continue to meet innumerable challenges that may be alleviated through some proporsal as those advanced.
