The existing terminology-related problems in teaching Afaan Oromoo triggered the need to write this book. Following the change in Ethiopian language policy since 1991,Afaan Oromoo has been included in the school curriculum and became the medium of instructions in all primary schools and colleges of Oromia.This new function is the recent phenomenon in which the influx of new concepts is inevitable.The study,therefore, examines terms developed and used by instructors, authors and students across and within higher institutio(s) Descriptions and analysis of the existing terms reveal that though coining and borrowing terms are the felt needs of individuals and organizations to represent new concepts,term development and usage lack methodological and practical considerations. Specifically, lack of transparency and consistency are observed boldly.So, where are solutions? This work has tried to raise issues related to the problems and their intended practical solutions. Hence,those who are teaching the and in thelanguage, and who are striving for the development of the language will be the expected beneficiary of the work.

Adugna Barkessa was born in Oct.1987 G.C in Eastern Wellega.He graduated from Jimma TTC in diploma and from Jimma University in B.A majoring Afaan Oromoo in both cases.His MA degree is in Applied Linguistics and he is currently a Ph.D.candidate in Aplied Linguistics and Development.Adugna is now teaching Afaan Oromoo at the University.
