This book focuses on the problem of poverty globally, within a multi-dimensional context, with specific interest on its prevalence in Nigeria, especially the Northern region and the several attempts by successive Governments to alleviate, reduce and subsequently eradicate poverty through various programmes and strategies at various tiers of Government. The depth of research makes this book a necessity for not just undergraduate and postgraduate students in the field of social sciences and management but an aid to public policy makers, international and local Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and all stakeholders in the united fight against poverty world wide. The various literature examined within a multidisciplinary platform emanates from the complex nature of poverty itself and the research effort to prod the past, examine the present synergy of efforts and secure a future with hope for the next generation of Nigerians and other brothers on earth.
