The interest of this work is to find out how children develop different levels of language proficiency, depending on the linguistic environment they are raised in. In our study, twenty-one subjects of one monolingual German and one bilingual German/English kindergarten are tested on comprehension and production tasks on the passive voice. It is assumed that children who are already instructed in a foreign language in kindergarten, perform better on passive voice tasks in their mother tongue than their peers.
Lisa Rauter graduated from Leopold Franzens University of Innsbruck in 2010. Her paper "Acquisition of Grammar in Children" was completed as part of her thesis and published later that year.
