We have entered an evolutionary age where expanding dialogue around holistic healing is redefining how people approach health and wellness. To address concerns that stem from spiritual silence in medical based therapy settings, spiritual dialogue must not remain dormant. The purpose of this study is to uncover how spiritual dialogue can transpire in psychoanalytic based insight groups among acute adult mental health inpatients. In developing a working model, that reunites spirituality with psychological and medical models in health care practice, clinicians can endorse healthy people, healthy communities, and healthy planet, thus contributing to human evolution. Recommendations are made and spiritual assessment tools revealed. The author has worked in mental health as a therapist and researcher for twelve years, focusing on psychotherapy and spiritual development. She is also the author of Deconstructing Ageism, published in 2008. With an Honors in Psychology, Master of Family Studies & Gerontology, Master of Clinical Social Work, and Master of Holistic Counseling, this publication is a contribution to human development and clinical practice.
My work as a therapist has only been successful through acknowledging my connection with life, spirit, humanity, and universe. It is my belief, without holistic healing, therapeutic endeavors can be futile. My research bridges history and is a contribution to authentic being and conscious evolution.
