This study examined the effects of educational media upon children. The research focused on the application of educational media, especially educational television, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in primary schools in Britain and China. The aim of the study was to explore the current status of utilization of educational media in primary schools both in Britain and China, and to identify the roles of educational media in child development. The study also addressed the existing problems in the use of educational media and the possible remedies for improving the effectiveness of educational media. Research evidence both in Britain and China has shown that television and ICT are fruitful media which can be used to advantage for both teacher´s and children´s benefit. The research studies have revealed that, although it is widely accepted that television and ICT are valuable educational resources that could have a greater impact on children´s learning, they need to be more effectively used.
