Within the parameters of contemporary critical theory, this book explores the tradition of protest which shaped the map of Arabic poetry in countries extending from the Atlantic Ocean to the Arabian Gulf since the post WWII era until the present . The book also engages the great impact of Western / Christian trajectories on modern Arabic literature penetrating into the core of Arab history and cultural heritage . Saddik M. Gohar is a professional translator and poet. He received his PhD and MA in English Literature and Criticism from Indiana University (USA). Currently he is an Associate Professor in United Arab Emirates University. He published extensively in paramount Western journals on the areas of comparative literature and cultural studies.
