Kasoa, a market town in the Central region of Ghana has been experiencing increasing rate of urbanisation. This rapid growth of Kasoa is seen not only in terms of physical expansion but also in terms of population growth. However, its rapid growth has not been matched with provision of educational infrastructure which is having a serious impact on the existing facilities, especially, at the basic level of education. This book is based on a research study conducted to examine the impact of rapid urban growth on basic schools´ infrastructure in the Kasoa township. It gives an insight on how the rapid growth of the Kasoa township impacts on the educational infrastructure as well as the academic performances of pupils at the basic level of education. It also paints a clear picture on how the unplanned nature of the township in the provision of educational and other social facilities tend to affect the people living there. This book will be especially useful to the District Assembly, the District Planning Officers and the District Education office as far as provision of such essential facilities is concerned.
