Until recently, the history of Ethiopia was exclusively, the history of the Northern half of the country. It has focused on certain ethnic groups although Ethiopia has been known as multi-ethnic society. The history and culture of ina a people was given no attention. However, this people have their own contribution to the development of the country over the many centuries.So, the primary aim of this research is to fill the above indicated gap of knowledge and to reconstruct the history and cultural elements of the ina a people which has never been investigated, the traditions of origin; pattern of settlement; the ina a relation with other Gongä people of southwestern Ethiopia; the expeditions of Christian kingdom against ina a; dynamics of socio-cultural practices and economic conditions of the ina a and their relations with neighbours and changes that effected over a number of years and how they sustain their identity still intact. By using the available primary and secondary sources, the research aims at benefiting the ina a people in the historiographical development. Thus integrate their history to the wider history of Ethiopia.
Abebe Ano Alula is received his B.A.degree from Addis Ababa University, Department of History and M.A. degree from Adama University, Department of History and worked in Manbuk High school, as a teacher in Dangur district, Mätäkkäl Zone of Beni- Shangul-Gumuz region and currently Lecturer, researcher and Advisor in Wollega University.
