Dr. Terry´s research study, as chronicled in this work, investigated the effects of a formally organized 21st Century Learning Grant´s after-school programs on the achievement levels of students in the third through fifth grades as measured by the South Carolina Palmetto Achievement Challenge Test. Findings from this investigation expand the knowledge base about after-school programming, and provide additional quantitative data regarding whether or not after-school programs do contribute to student success and increased achievement. These findings also add to the limited literature dealing with elementary after-school programs.
Troy M. Terry, Ph.D. is the Director of Graduate Studies at Furman University in Greenville, SC. where he teaches in the School Leadership program and conducts research in k-12 education.
