The book aims to explore Coordinating Conjuction Preferences of Turkish Freshmen Learners at a state university and aims to concentrate on the major determining factors for students´ preferences. The subjects were 125 university students in E.L.T. Department at state university in Turkey. The students were asked to write compositions on five various topics and were grouped into three according to their grades they get from the examination of writing skills course. The groups were labelled as High, Mid and Low. The number of students in each group is 30, 75 and 20 respectively.Descriptive statistics were apllied and preferences were analysed. The findings revealed that among the seven coordinating conjunctions, expectedly, "and" was the most frequently used. "Or","but","so" follow respectively. Study revealed a surprising finding that the coordinative conjunctions "for", "nor" and "yet" were not used by the students in their compositions. The reasons for preferences of the students might be overgeneralisation, coursebook effect and L1 interference. The book also includes implications for EFL teachers and suggestions to reserachers for further research.
