Environmental risk issue emerged in the late twentieth century as a major concern of global activities of industrialisation. By the early twenty-first century, environmental issue started to dominate international agendas for a whole generation of political leaders, government officials, scientists, industrialists, Non Government Organisations (NGOs) and concerned citizens. However, existing work on policy agenda-setting, risk and trust communication tends to focus more on the west and seem to be lacking in Africa due to lack of participation in the media and risk field. In order to further the field of risk society thesis both in Africa and the west, this book engaged academic literatures formulated in the west; however, not limited to European cultures alone but can be generalised to the international community in order to conceptualise and develop risk society thesis in Africa. The analysis in this book should help shed some light on the new trend of risk society thesis from Africa perspective, and should be especially useful to professionals in the media and risk field, the international community and the Nigerian government.
