Why do fewer and fewer high school and college aged males elect to study French as a foreign language? Theories abound, among them that French is less practical than other language options, and that French language and culture bear distinctly feminine attributes which many young males are hesitant to embrace. This book looks closely at the single-sex and coeducational secondary environments to produce various theories as to why male enrollment in French class suffers so much less when girls are not around.
