In this book Dr. Borges-Gatewood presents the current situation of the principalship in Brazil and in the United States, the evolution of the principal in Brazil and in the US, the National Standards for Educational Leadership Programs including ISLLC and ELCC, the characteristics of leadership preparation in both countries, and the leadership preparation program types. The findings of this study contribute to compare the preparation program types in both countries, and the preparedness of school administrators to implement a school vision, to develop a school culture, to manage school operations and resources, to collaborate with community members and faculty, to act with integrity and to understand the context of education. This book presents the actual situation of the school administration in Brazil and the US. Dr. Borges-Gatewood delivers practical implication of the findings and recommendations for practice concerning the future of our educational leaders.

Born in Brazil and a proud mother of sons Leandro and Guilherme, Dr. Borges-Gatewood now lives in Texas with her husband, Mark. She has worked in Brazil and US public schools as a teacher and principal, as well as a Professor in both countries. She has a Doctor of Education from the University of Memphis, TN, in Leadership and Policy Studies.
