In this seminal study, Dr. Labang probes into the poetics and poetry of eight Anglophone Cameroon poets within the paradigms of Petrarchism, Patriarchal ideology, Sublimity and Absurdity. This book is a landmark contribution to Anglophone Cameroon criticism given that it analyzes Anglophone Cameroon poetics and poetry by establishing a connection to poetic traditions, ideologies and philosophies that are spacio-temporarily, aesthetically and culturally distant to Anglophone experience. Most significantly, Labang distinguishes himself in the art of Anglophone Cameroon poetic discourse by shifting from the political/protest interpretive yardstick which most critics use to comprehend this literature. The conceptual and contextual framework and the author´s audacious engagement with literary and philosophical discourses in the interpretation and understanding of Anglophone Cameroon Poetry makes this study unique, palatable and challenging. There is no doubt therefore that this book will serve as a perfect recipe for students, teachers and lovers of Anglophone Cameroon poetry. (Dr. Emmanuel N. Yimbu Abdel Halim Higher Institute of Education - Abu Dhabi)
