Happy Shiny People is a series of dark tableaux vivants, which challenge the lies that underpin our society. The short stories deal with casual brutality, the illusion of the "free market", the abuse of power, the corruption of ideals, questions of personal identity, the superficiality of a world governed by the media, political dissent and sibling rivalry. The short stories cast a diagnostic glance at the seemingly shiny, brilliant world in which we live and call many of society´s most cherished assumptions into question.

Buergermeister, Michael
Born in Vienna in 1967 Michael Buergermeister was brought up in London. He studied at the University of Edinburgh, the University of Vienna and Max Reinhardt Seminar. A writer, filmmaker and video artist he lives and works in Vienna, Austria.
