Turn and Face the Strange covers the eclectic range of subjects that passed in front of Jane England´s camera during the mid-1970s and early 1980s. England photographed friends and associates at a time when marginalised grunds and subcultures merged and came together with a shared sense of nihilism and decadence. Her images encompass the early years of London´s punk era and the birth of New Romanticism, including photographs of club kids, Teddy boys, transvestites and icons of the period such as Vivienne Westwood, Andy Warhol and Gilbert & George.
