Markus Mühling stellt die These auf, dass das dreieinige Leben keine Ausnahme, sondern die Bedingung der Möglichkeit der Ontologie darstellt. Unter Zuhilfenahme erkenntnistheoretischer Überlegungen entwirft er so seine Theorie der Offenbarung als Wahrnehmung. Zudem macht Mühling deutlich, dass die Theologie gut daran tut, naturwissenschaftliche Theorien zur Beantwortung ihrer drängendsten Fragen zu berücksichtigen. Denn wie sich zeigt, lassen sich theologische Probleme unter Berücksichtigung naturwissenschaftlicher Fragestellungen und Erkenntnisse besser lösen. Gleichsam weist Mühling darauf hin, dass auch die Naturwissenschaften etwas von der Theologie lernen können.

This book presents an epistemological theory of revelation as perception and a relational-narrative theological ontology based on the concept of dramatic coherence, in which the triune life is understood not as an anomaly within ontology, but rather as the decisive condition of its possibility. It further demonstrates that potential for resolving certain theological problems arises if new insights from the natural sciences, such as the theory of the ecological brain in the neurosciences and the theory of niche-construction in evolutionary theory, are taken into account. Similarly, it also proposes that neuroscience and evolutionary biology can procure advantages from a dialogue with theology by considering the conceptual implications stemming from a phenomenological approach and relational-narrative ontology.

Prof. Dr. Markus Mühling ( 1969) promovierte 2000 zum Thema "Gott ist Liebe. Studien zum Verständnis der Liebe als -Modell trinitarischen Redens von Gott" an der Universität Kiel.
Seine Habilitation zum Thema "Versöhnendes Handeln - Handeln in Versöhnung. Gottes Opfer an die Menschen" schloss er an der Universität Heidelberg 2005 ab.
Von 2007-2011 war Mühling Heisenbergstipendiat der DFG,
zwischen 2009 und 2010 Gastprofessor für Systematische Theologie an der Universität Aberdeen (UK).
Seit 2011 ist er Professor für Systematische Theologie und Wissenschaftskulturdialog an der Leuphana Universität Lüneburg.
