Type 2 diabetes has become a matter of growing concern for healthcare professionals because of the global increase and a broad range of effects on an individual´s way of living and family and social life. When it comes to the issue of the experiences of Eastern people who live with diabetes, a subject on which not much literature is available. This book, therefore, provides new and different aspects of people of partly low socioeconomic status living in suburban areas of Thailand. Especially, the aspects associate with people´s life experiences and the importance of the sociocultural context and social determinants, which have a significant effect on ways of living with this disease. This might be an innovative way for healthcare professionals to reconsider the traditional thought which has been focused on the individuals, and change to the new perspective that considers the importance of the interaction among individuals, disease, and social environment. Taking these compositions into consideration might help healthcare professionals to be aware of the dynamics of patients´ lives with diabetes and translate this knowledge into an appropriate plan for the target population.
