The main cause of endoscopy-associated infections is failure to adhere to reprocessing guidelines. Thus it is essential that all these steps are performed according to a strict protocol. This work aimed to prevent infection transmission by in patient ready flexible endoscopes via the following steps: 1.Assessment of healthcare providers´ knowledge about endoscope reprocessing, 2.Assessment of healthcare providers´ compliance to national guidelines, 3. Protein assay to monitor cleaning process and 4.microbiological diagnosis of different endoscopes after storage and before use.
