Ein Zen-Mönch, der Graffitis auf U-Bahnwagen sprayt und berühmte Leute mit Farbe beschmeißt: Gen Atem, der wilde Pionier der europäischen Urban-Art-Bewegung. In den 1980er- und 1990er-Jahren

arbeitete er mit der New Yorker Hip-Hop-Legende Rammellzee zusammen. Ihre gemeinsamen, multimedialen Performances Gothic Futurism - Ikonoklast Panzerism waren Kult: selbst Madonna, die Beastie Boys und Public Enemy gehörten zu den Zuschauern. In diesem Buch wird nun seine neuste Arbeit präsentiert: Ein Bildersturm auf alle und alles. Sowohl das Schöne und Faszinierende als auch das Schreckliche und Belanglose, ja sogar das Unfassbare und Unbegreifliche wird attackiert und infrage gestellt: Zerstört Globalisierung unsere Kultur und rettet Selbstdarstellung meine Identität? Gen Atem setzt auf die Macht der Bilder und lädt den Betrachter ein, selber Antworten zu erfinden: Nur wer teilnimmt, ist bereit für die Revolution.

In the eighties and nineties Gen Atem worked with New York hip hop legend Rammellzee. Their joint, multimedia performances were legendary: even Madonna, the Beastie Boys, and Public Enemy were among the spectators. Now his latest work is presented in this book: a clash with everyone and everything. Both the beautiful and fascinating as well as the horrible and insignificant, even the intangible and incomprehensible is attacked and questioned: is globalization destroying our culture, and does self-representation preserve my identity?
