Das Büro Staab Architekten widmet sich seit seiner Gründung 1991 einem breiten Spektrum von Bauaufgaben, das von Neubauten in sensiblen Stadt- und Landschaftsräumen bis zu Umbauten und Neuinterpretationen von denkmalgeschützten Gebäuden reicht. Seine Handschrift lässt sich nicht anhand formaler Ähnlichkeiten erkennen, sondern in der methodischen Herangehensweise, die hinter der individuellen Entwicklung jedes einzelnen Projektes steckt. Aus den komplexen Rahmenbedingungen jeder Bauaufgabe wird eine Vielzahl von Bezugspunkten bestimmt, aus denen Form, Funktion und Materialität der Bauwerke entwickelt werden. Anhand übergeordneter Themen und einer Auswahl von Projekten wird die Arbeitsweise des Büros aus eigener Sicht und aus der Perspektive des Architekturkritikers Florian Heilmeyer näher beleuchtet.
