Azerbaijan, the ´land of fire´, is full of infinite beauty and treasures; moreover it offers a wide variety of cultural attractions. As part of the South Caucasus, the country lies between the Mountains and Asia Minor and the Black and Caspian Seas. Just as diverse as the landscape is Azerbaijani cuisine: hearty lamb dishes, sticky sweet baklava, and the sheer never-ending world of oriental spices are just asking to be cooked. The atmospheric images by the Cologne photographer Barbara Lutterbeck, who captured the heart and soul of the country on her travels, tempt the reader on a tour of discovery as much as her enticing recipes do.

Brunhild Seeler-Herzog studierte Übersetzen und Dolmetschen in München. Sie lebte in Lyon, Barcelona, Perpignan und war Langstreckenseglerin mit Astronavigation von Marseille bis Tahiti; dort blieb sie drei Jahre. Sie leitet Studienreisen in allen Teilen der Welt, besonders in Südamerika und Ozeanien. Seit 1986 lebt sie als freie Journalistin und Autorin auf Mallorca. Sie veröffentlichte verschiedene Reiseführer und schreibt für namhafte Zeitungen und Zeitschriften.

Barbara Lutterbeck ist als Fotografin auf Food- und Still-Life-Fotografie spezialisiert. Sie hat bislang über 30 Kochbücher fotografisch gestaltet. Sie betreibt ein Fotostudio in Köln und arbeitet für internationale Auftraggeber aus der Industrie sowie Buch- und Zeitschriftenverlage.
