"Kunst besitzt eine starke transformatorische Kraft", sagt Jonny Star (geb. 1964 in Düsseldorf, lebt und arbeitet in Berlin und New York). Star kombiniert in ihren Arbeiten verschiedene Materialien und Medien wie Bronze, Fotografie und Stoff mit installativen Elementen. In ihren Werkgruppen thematisiert sie biografische Erfahrungen, Sexualität, Geschlechterrollen und Identität sowie deren gesellschaftliche Rezeption. "See Me, Feel Me, Touch Me, Heal Me" ist die erste Monografie der Künstlerin und stellt ihre Arbeiten der letzten zwei Jahrzehnte vor. Das Buch wird von drei Textbeiträgen begleitet: Die Kunsthistorikerin und Ausstellungsmacherin Eva Meyer-Hermann geht auf Jonny Stars neueste Arbeiten ein, die Tapisserien Free Your Soul, und schlägt dabei auch einen Bogen zu deren kuratorischen Projekten. Die Kuratorin und Autorin Tina Sauerländer stellt Stars Oeuvre vor und beschreibt ihre Arbeitsweise und Entwicklung. Der Kunstkritiker und Publizist Ralf Hanselle widmet sich in seinem Essay der künstlerischen Utopie und den Anfängen der Künstlerin, ihrer Installation Weltstadt Berlin aus dem Jahr 1996.

Star´s work combines a variety of materials and media such as bronze, photography, and fabrics with elements of installation art. Her ensembles explore biographical experiences, sexuality, gender roles, and identity and how it is perceived by society.

"See Me, Feel Me, Touch Me, Heal Me" is the artist´s first monograph and presents a survey of her oeuvre of the past two decades. Three essays round out the volume: The art historian and exhibition organizer Eva Meyer-Hermann discusses Jonny Star´s most recent works, the tapestries Free Your Soul, and traces an arc to the artist´s curatorial projects. The curator and author Tina Sauerländer offers an introduction to Star´s oeuvre and describes her approach and evolution as an artist. The art critic and writer Ralf Hanselle´s contribution examines Star´s utopian vision, focusing on an early work, the installation Weltstadt Berlin (1996).
