New Necklaces showcases the current trends in contemporary jewellery. Works created by 180 artists from 40 countries that portrays a fascinating variety of styles: from classic forms and materials, to the most daring, experimental and surprising ideas. Each one of the creations included in this book is unique and relates strongly to today´s social, cultural and artistic reality. The titles of the chapters correspond to the names that each length receives according to the international classification: Choker, Princess, Matinée, Opera, and Rope/Lariat. New Necklaces is the third book curated by jeweller and author Nicolas Estrada after the successful New Rings and New Earrings (published by Promopress in French, Spanish and Portuguese in 2012 and 2013 respectively).

Estrada, Nicolás
Der Autor Nicolas Estrada ( Medellin, 1972) hat Schmuckdesignan der Escola Massana in Barcelona studiert. Er hat viele Juweliertechniken erlernt, genauso wie lokale traditionelle Techniken. Seine Werke können in Galerien in aller Welt gefunden werden, von Glasgow über Riga, San Francisco bis nach Barcelona. Seine Werkstücke sind handgemacht, personalisiert und transgressiv. Er war als Herausgeber für "Neue Ringe" (Promopress Editions, 2012) und "Neue Ohrringe" (Promopress Editions, 2013) verantwortlich.

Caballero, Leon
Leo Caballero hat 2002 mit Amador Bertomeu klimt02.net gegründet, eine Website, die Informationen, Kenntnisse, Diskussionen und Austausch innerhalb des zeitgenössischen Schmuckdesigns anbietet. 2007 gründete er dann die Galerie Klimt02 in Barcelona, wo die Werke einer Gruppe ausgewählter internationaler Avantgarde-Künstler zeigt.

Wild, Julia
Julia Wild ist seit 2010 ein Mitglied der Fakultät für Edelstein- und Schmuckdesign der Universität Trier in der Edelsteinstadt Idar- Oberstein (Rheinland-Pfalz). Ihr Lehrschwerpunkt liegt auf Themen, die Schmuck und Rituale, Symbole oder Körper und Raum verbinden.
