The Tsukiji Fish Market ( ) in Tokyo (Japan) is the world´s largest wholesale market for fresh, frozen and processed seafood. Almost 50,000 people come every day to work, sweat, buy, sell and negotiate. Tokyo Fish Market elaborates an enlarged urban design proposal for this infrastructure. Its relocation to another site seems to be already decided on, as a wholesale market of this size no longer fits into the centre of this metropolis. Or does it? Absolutely is the conclusion of this project. Based on a profound analysis of its history and issues as well as a new Japan Fish Supply strategy this book suggests the transformation of Tsukiji into "Tokyo Fish City". An exciting journey!
