The study analyzed the climate variability adaptation strategies on rural livelihood of north Ethiopia the case of Kalu District. The study identifies, describe the various cause of climate variability, effect on Agriculture, coping strategies and adaptation to improve their productive and the data collection methods random sampling method 180 rural households in three livelihood zones (Cheffa valley, South Wollo Belg and South Wollo and Oromia eastern low land sorghum and Cattle). The perception of climate variability is increasing the temperature and decrease and erratic distribution of rainfall are the highest risk to decrease agricultural production and productivity. The local adaptation strategies in the District have using irrigation, using improve crop variety, changing sawing date, soil conservation, planting tree aforestation, early planting, changing crop type, late planting, water harvesting and look off farm activities. The government policy and investment direction and strategies must support education, agriculture extension service, credit and information about climate variability including technological method, encourage and award agriculture tools.
I had coordinated the implementation of Manual tube well for small scale irrigation, Disaster risk reduction and recovery, Community based DRR, follow-on develop strategic, annual planning, monitoring and evaluation exercises for various initiatives in different projects related with disaster risk management and other developmental aspect.
