There is no doubt that a flamboyant dinner display can be a work of art. And the most important component - the queen of the table - should always be the centerpiece. My "Plateaux" are centerpieces for our era. Historically these objects were made to be admired and discussed by the guests and, in imperial courts, by an invited audience and sometimes crowds of onlookers as well.

Aris Fioretos, geb. 1960 als Sohn griechisch-österreichischer Eltern im schwedischen Göteborg. Nach Studien- und Forschungsjahren im Ausland Arbeit nun als Schriftsteller in Stockholm und Berlin. Veröffentlichung mehrerer Prosa- und Essaybände sowie Romanen; Übersetzungen von u. a. Paul Auster, Friedrich Hölderlin und Vladimir Nabokov ins Schwedische.
