Many wine writers across the globe describe wines in terms of musical parameters and compare the taste of wines to specific pieces of music. This study aims to investigate the basis of cross-modal correspondences of such comparisons and whether social drinkers would perceive any differences in tasting wines with music in comparison to silence or mismatching music. The author aims to assess how the influence of music changes the perception of taste during a wine tasting. Listening to matching music when drinking wine might increase enjoyment ratings and the overall taste, but does music really have the power to influence the perception of taste of individuals?
