During times of radical political changes within the the NAFTA-area,the topicality as well as the relevance of the NAFTA is increasing drastically. This paper will provide an answer to the research question: "To what extend is Mexico´s manufacturing sector dependent on NAFTA and the resulting FDI, and what are the impacts of NAFTA on regional disparities in the wages and the productivity of Mexico´s manufacturing sector?" while giving an prospect of NAFTA s future and presenting possible remedies.
