The drawbacks of the Health Care System in effectively addressing issues related to the ageing of the population in Bangladesh received particular emphasis. In short, it is a critical assessment of the Health System in Bangladesh in the context of the recent demographic and epidemiological transition that the country is undergoing. With a PhD in Sociology from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Dr. Islam has more than twenty five years of professional experience in both developed and developing countries focusing broadly on health system, health economics and health care financing, program monitoring and evaluation and international development.
