Despite the global increase in the number of protected areas, it is greatly remarked that biological values are not delimited by protected areas since all species do not have the same habitat requirements as well as do not have the same range boundaries (Milligan, 2009). As such, the Black Bush Areas of Waindow in Menchum South, NW Cameroon, retain value and are therefore of prime importance for wildlife conservation activities due to the presence of large charismatic mammal species and their role in the connectivity to protected areas. The global objective of this study was to established base line information on large mammal populations which will contribute to their conservation in the study site. From the study, one could deduce that the pressures exacerbated on these animals due to human activities placed the remaining gorilla, chimpanzees, buffalos and other large mammal populations under intense threat of disappearing. It is therefore necessary to alleviate, revive and incorporate some of these pressures, into modern-day conservation strategies that can help to urgently conserve the remaining large mammal species.
