This book provides the tools to employers to identify the best management techniques for employee motivation and productivity, in order to improve the overall health of an organization. Managing a multi-generational workforce provides challenges for employers who are unfamiliar with the expectations and motivation of Generation X and Millennials. Although research already exists about the generational differences among Generation X and Millennials, most does not address the impact such findings have in changing the way employers manage employees and how failure to engage employees causes an increase in turn-over. A literature review of existing journal articles and case studies was used to identify trends in motivation and expectations of Millennials and Generation X, while identifying the best management styles to engage a multi-generational workforce. Using a critical realism paradigm with hermeneutical methodology, this book shows how historical events significantly impact each generation´s beliefs, expectations, and motivation so managers can improve the health of their organization.
