I made this book for those studying or starting research on the small SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) satellites. The purpose of publishing this book is that people conducting research acquire basic and practical knowledge about the small SAR satellites first, and furthermore, this book leads you to proceed in the correct direction when you research it in detail. This book shows the design, manufacturing, testing, satellite operation, ground operation and image data processing of small SAR satellite. The small SAR satellite aimed at by this book is to reduce the burden on society and industry by providing compact, lightweight, low-cost small SAR satellite. Specifically, it is to develop compact size, lightweight (100 kg class) and low cost (about 1 billion yen) small satellites as compared to existing SAR satellites (large size, large mass, high price). And further, we will work with society and industry to develop image data processing technology specialized in limited mission and aim to create a new business domain.

Imura, Nobuyoshi
N. Imura has a career at Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, Chiba University. Was engaged in the development of synthetic aperture radar and radar satellite for about 40 years, pursuing research and development of small SAR satellite, data processing technology combining his experience with research achievements.
