The term numismatics denotes the study of coins. The study explores the periods of late Medieval Andhradesa (13th to 17th Century) with special reference to the major dynasties belonging to Hindu-Muslims and the coins they minted and used. In the South Indian history in Andhradesa in the later medieval period, the major Hindu dynasty was that of Kakatiyas who established their kingdom in the Northern Andhradesa with Orugallu and Hanamkonda as their capitals. Allauddin Khilji´s army led by chief Malik Kafar, defeated Prataparudra and came into power. Later Tughlaq ruler Mohammed bin Tughlaq brought the Kingdom under his control by 1323 AD. The Muslims for the first time could establish their power in the Deccan and it was called Bahmani kingdom which later disintegrated into five kingdoms. Among them the Qutubshahis were the most famous Andhra Sultans and they made Golkonda their capital in Northern Telangana from 1512 to 1687 AD till Aurangzeb besieged the fort of Golkonda. Since 21st September 1687 up to 1st Oct.1724 the Golkonda kingdom was under the sovereign control of the Mughal Badshah Aurangzeb.
