In ihrem assoziativem Bildwerk Collective Creatures richtet Silja Yvette den Blick auf die künstliche und natürliche Materie, auf das Wirken von Masse und Energie in Raum und Zeit. In ihren Fotografien werden Objekte und Orte wie Höhlen, verlassene Gebäude, Steinbrüche, Schaufenster, Fundstücke, Vulkane und atomare Vorfälle zu "kollektiven Kreaturen": Kreaturen, die scheinbar nicht abbildbare Kräfte wie Transformation, Expansion und Omnipräsenz fassbar machen; Dinge, die entgegen jeder vom Menschen gewünschten Kalkulierbarkeit etwas Mythisches in sich tragen. Mit kompositorisch starken Bildern, die sie gern von ihrem kulturellen Kontext befreit, zielt Silja Yvettes künstlerisches Vorgehen auf Zusammenhänge. Feinfühlig und kritisch zeigt sie ihr Verhältnis zur feinstofflichen Durchdringung von Mikropartikeln und Strahlung einerseits sowie zur materialmassiven Umwälzung der Erde durch die Unternehmungen und Erfindungen des Menschen andererseits.

Silja Yvette ( 1986), Absolventin der Städelschule, lebt in Frankfurt am Main und Berlin. Ihre Werke sind seit 2006 in zahlreichen Einzelausstellungen zu sehen.

In Collective Creatures , Silja Yvette draws attention to artificial and natural materials, as well as to the effects of mass and energy in space and time. In her photographs objects and places from caves and abandoned buildings, to quarries, shop windows, found pieces, volcanos, and atomic eventsbecome collective creatures, which make it possible to understand forces that are difficult to visualize, such as transformation, expansion, and omnipresence. There is something inherently mythical about these things that opposes the calculability desired by humans. With her strongly compositional images freed from their cultural context, Silja Yvettes artistic process takes aim at associative contexts. Critically, and with sensitivity, she shows their relationship to the subtle permeation of microparticles and radiation on the one hand, and to the massive upheaval of the earths materials perpetrated by human- led corporations and human inventions.
