The concept of EU citizenship and related rights was developed as the result from the early 1970s of a long-term development of the European Community from a "Europe of the economy" into a "Europe of citizens". Providing freedom of movement for nationals of the Member States is the aim of the recognition of Europe of citizens. Citizenship is the central political state of loyalty of modern states. EU itself it´s not defined as a state, therefore is her citizenship status defined as remarkable as it includes citizens from all Member states. The central element of Union citizenship is freedom of movement which does not include any economic purpose and it is granted to all citizens of the Union. Union´s citizenship is the key to creating closer union of the people of Europe.Kocová, Jarmila Jarmila Kocová studied Slavic Studies at the Eberhard Karls University Tübingen and European Studies at the Postgraduate Center at the University of Vienna.
