Viewed through a cultural and musical perspective, this work takes an extensive look at the history of techno music in Detroit: Its roots, its rise during the 1980´s, its unique relation to the post-industrial environment of the city, the diverse transitions it encountered, and its eventual conformation to the globalized techno of today.
