In this volume, the author explores the fragmentation of Irish identities that has occured since the first Christian invasion. While Christianity is widely embraced, strong Pagan influences permeate the collective psyche, seating Irish rebelliousness against English traditions rather than Christian ones. Turney explores works of Synge, O´Casey, and McDonagh to expose this process, its roots, and its effects.
