This book presents a comprehensive approach for modeling of uninterrupted unidirectional traffic stream with or without lane discipline. The primary tasks of driving are (i) steering control (or lateral control) through appropriate choice of steering angle, and (ii) speed control (or longitudinal control) through acceleration/deceleration. To incorporate driver´s lateral interaction to road and traffic elements realistically, modeling of steering control is equally important which is missing in most of the existing driver models. This book proposed a comprehensive microscopic model which incorporates the driver´s lateral and longitudinal interaction with road and traffic elements together. The proposed model is evaluated for various macroscopic features (like fundamental relationship between speed, flow and density, effect of road width and road blockage on capacity) and microscopic features (like acceleration noise and speed distribution) of traffic streams on road with and without lane discipline. Results show the capability of proposed model in simulating the traffic streams on various verities of roads and driving scenarios.
