This book analyses the relationship between the state and globalisation. More specifically it analyses the relationship between globalisation, the state and its devolved entities such as provinces and municipalities. Before analyzing the relationship between these concepts within the context of the study, being the political economy of South Africa, the book seeks to provide a general theoretical background for readers.

After completing his LLB in 2001 and becoming an admitted attorney in 2003, Warren commenced studying towards his MA in Political Economy. This book is the culmination of that effort.
