In contemporary society, transnational flows of people have been further accelerated, reconfiguring borders and remapping notions of belonging and of home. Borders are acknowledged also as sites of connection, communities are reinvented and the idea of belonging is continuously renegotiated. What is home? The idea of home is revisited both as a geographical site and as a frame of mind. The concept challenges boundaries and its representation becomes an invitation for new understandings. In the present work Juliana B.O. Morais problematizes the idea of home and analyses its representation in Loida Maritza Pérez´s Geographies of Home. Whether in the form of a longing, a fear and /or a memory, home is presented in numerous ways by the characters Aurelia, Iliana, Rebecca and Marina, diasporic women whose geographies of home are objects of this analysis. Morais´s work encompasses the discussion of home in relation to space, gender, race and the African Diaspora.
