Shorttitle Ideology and Women in African Novels Women in a number of African literary texts are represented in an inaccurate way and they have a historically frozen image. Their representation is mostly sloppy and biased and it has different reasons for this widely circulating representation. For many authors, the primary cause for representing their subjects is ideology. This book also aims at showing and analyzing the representation of women in Ng g ´´s novels-The River Between and A Grain of Wheat from ideological perspectives.Though ideology is defined as a set of beliefs,it has specific definitions depending on its kinds.Different types of ideologies such as dominant, authorial, aesthetic, patriarchal and gendered are looked at in the study.This book,therefore, shows the link between ideology and literary representation and it helps literary scholars, historians, anthropologists, sociologists and folklorists to conduct a study on ideology and literary representation of women in other settings and popular cultures. Finally, the book can inform researchers about the multiple dimensions to the literary representation of women.
