This work sought to understand the crisis in Somalia and the role played by Untied Nations to prevent the crisis and restore national socio-economic developments in Somalia. Although, Somalia people have the same religion, language and cultural backgrounds, they have been forced to fight each other by self-interested warlords and their supporters at the cost of rule of law and statehood. The civil war has caused enormous destruction in the economic, social and political spheres of Somalia. So far, a number of reconciliation efforts were made to resurrect the state and almost all attempts had failed to end the misery of Somalia people and the country at large. Hence, Somalia is still in partial anarchy, and its people have been hopeless and helpless about their future. Therefore, this work provides an in sight about the continuing crisis, nature and extent of the crisis and looks into the factors which contributed to the emergence and development of the problem inline with the role of United Nations in Somalia.
