Liquid crystal research has a rich past and bright future. Despite competition from new technologies in The information display area, liquid crystal research remains a vibrant and growing area. Now liquid crystal has penetrated every walk of human life. In the last decades, the design and synthesis of liquid crystals containing terminal, linking and the lateral alkoxy groups have attracted much promising attention because of the physico-chemical and electro optical properties which make some of them very useful for display applications. This book provides an overview on effective role of oxygen on Phase behavior of Schiff base compounds and the Influence of alkyl chain length with the absence of oxygen atom. It will be useful to the people who are generally new to the field of liquid crystal research and to be used in everyday laboratory work for the characterization of novel materials.
Ajeetha Naryanan has completed her Ph.D in Physics from CLCRE, Achraya Nagarjuna University and worked as Research Associate in LCRL, Andhra Loyola College, India. She won K. V. Rao Young Scientist award and published 26 research articles.Currently she is working in experimental area of Calamitic Liquid Crystals with various terminal groups.
