The badly ignored area of leadership, organizational culture and job commitment urges to be addressed, particularly in Pakistan and generally in Third World as a whole. The topic of this book is to focus these important areas. The scarcity of professionally trained library leadership has always been the whine of educational administrators. Consequently, university libraries persistently been exhibiting gloomy picture of professional direction, institutional values and devoted human resources. Library curriculum, continuous educational programs and existing library literature also could not contribute as much as required for such a significant area. As an emergent profession, librarianship needs to hunt a generation of professionally sound, managerially talented crop of leaders which can meet the challenges of twentieth century. The argument of the book is that we should invest for folks of strategic value.
Muhammad Rafiq Awan was born at Tanda, a town near Gujrat (Pakistan). He got his early education from the town´s High School and graduated from Gujrat. He did his Masters and MPhil in Library and Information Science from University of The Punjab, Lahore. He is working as Chief Librarian at The Islmia University of Bahawalpur.
