So far the organic taste of coffee has attracted the world. As a center of origin and main export of agriculture, coffee production in Ethiopia is organic by default. Over 90% of the coffee produced was accepted to be truly organic perhaps more than 50% of the harvest is from garden farming (where 45% is forest coffee).Hence, the study here covers socio economic factors which affect fertility status of the soil at a household level. Results in general indicated that the knowledge on the management of manure (composting and FYM preparation) and farmers´ access to labor seem to influence soil fertility management of farmers than land and livestock holding, as land has negatively influenced manure utilization. This book thus offers a background insight to people involved in coffee trade and organizations certifying organic produces.
The author was born in April 21, 1980(Ethiopia).He took his Bachelor from Alemaya University in the field of plant sciences in 2002 and specialized in Soil Sciences at the school of graduate studies of Hawassa University in 2005.Currently,the author is a PhD student in soil microbiology at the Norwegian University of Life sciences.
