Critical and emergency situations permeate all sectors of the hospital; however they mostly occur in the Emergency Room and in the Intensive Care Units. Such settings are marked by severe physical and emotional pain; all sorts of limitations; unforeseeable events; death and loss experiences. These experiences generate such distress that surpasses the restraints threshold of the actors in this play patients, family members and the health team therefore creating the need for a psychological intervention. The psychological consultation-liaison is a kind of intervention that allows considering the institutional demand and the psychological counseling to patients and their family members.
